Gulf Western Roofing Providing a Safe and Healthy Workplace

Gulf Western Roofing is committed to conducting routine training to ensure proper compliance and to uphold our mission for providing a safe and healthy work environment. We value all of our employees both on and off the job as we are committed to providing the necessary training for a healthy workplace. This is why, at Gulf Western Roofing, we are dedicated to providing OSHA compliance training.

OSHA Training

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is a federal organization that requires employers to provide a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. This is done by the requirements for enforcing the standards and providing workplace safety training. Gulf Western Roofing has established regular internal training sessions for employees in an effort to support proper safety and wellness procedures while on the job.

Our training, which is provided by Hollis Grady, takes place for each division within Gulf Western Roofing twice a year, or once every six months. Hollis Grady, a retired OSHA inspector, is now President of Genesis Safety Support Management.

Courtesy of Hollis’ LinkedIn Profile, “As an OSHA Safety and Health Specialist through enforcement, coaching and compliance assistance, I am able to assist employers in their effort to maintain a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment. My investigative skills are required in fact finding to establish the root cause of worksite fatalities and catastrophes.”

Hollis uses a field tailgate training system that he created to offer portable training of companies like Gulf Western Roofing. He states, it is, “A tailgate training system invented by Genesis to deliver timely and quality training to all employees,” which is also a mission at Genesis.

Each meeting with Hollis involves a detailed presentation about the importance of OSHA, safety guidelines, injury prevention, and the latest OSHA policies and compliance procedures.

Daily Safety Inspection

Along with the critical training received by Hollis, Gulf Western Roofing has developed their own internal safety guidelines and procedures. Contractors complete a daily safety inspection sheet. Supervisors check this off each day to ensure that their crews are following the safety guidelines. Some aspects of this daily signoff includes:

  • General safety
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • Ladder Safety
  • Hand and Power Tool Safety
  • Hazard Communications and Flammable Safety

In addition, Gulf Western Roofing field supervisors also provide safety training with the crew once a week. These “Toolbox Talks” sessions are presented with a different topic each week and all attendees are expected to sign off that they have attended this session.

Gulf Western Roofing remains the gold standard in contractor roofing within the state of Florida. This is done in part because we remain ahead of changing procedures and policies and make safety and healthy work conditions a critical foundation. We put our employees first and are dedicated to arming them with proper training on the best safety practices in the industry. Our employees are our most valuable asset. Their safety is our uppermost priority.
